More traffic can be gained by submitting your blog to blog submission sites. There are a lot out there and traffic will jump for you.

It looks like you've already gotten good tips on SEO. As far as tracking your keywords, I thought you may like this program (sorry but I can't link due to low posts):

There's a website called SEO Book which has a great tool called "SEO Ranker." (visit seobook.com and click on Tools then scroll down until you see it). I use this for my FT job to track how our keywords are ranking for Google, Yahoo and Bing. I run it weekly.

Will this hurt your ranking with google? will it count as paid links?

I've had success in boosting the traffic of my sites after participating in social networks like Myspace, Twitter and Facebook. Social networking is an easy yet effective method
to increase traffic!
Also Classified ads can also help to bring traffic to your site if you can get the right method on posting ads. I mean you have to provide an ads that can grab the attention of
the reader.
