In my experience what i did is bookmarking. That will easily find and index your page or your site within 24 hrs.

I've just started the whole blogging thing, and some of my posts were being indexed, other weren't, so thanks for the tips
As for getting first page rank in 24 hours... i'll be impressed when someone proves they've managed that.

I am not sure whether these tips really help Google to index your blog faster. You just have to submit your web page to Google and if you want to have it indexed faster then use the webmaster tool to submit your web site.
