I set up a blog recently so I figured I'd get it right from the start. I searched for wordpress permalinks seo and this was the first result. As a result I read it and followed it's instructions. I was sure of most to begin with but it also showed me a few new things. This is for wordpress but applicable to any blog platform.

I don't agree with a few things in that article. The WWW doesn't really matter and there's a lot of unnecessary things they talk about trying to shorten the URL but just as long as you have your keywords in the URL then that's fine.

I have had really good experiences with doing a custom permalink like this /%post_id%/%postname%/ From what I am told from a few seo experts, Google picks that format up really well.
