Electric Spectre - Reporting future doom and present awesome

Hey Bloggers
Please can you look at Electric Spectre and let me know what you think. It's a attempt to create a blog along the lines of Boing Boing, Neatorama and the like, with a darker irreverent edge. It's written by myself and a friend, and we're trying to get at least one post up every day.

We've only ben going a few weeks, but we think we've got some interesting content.

Any feedback is appreciated.

Looks like some pretty good content. One thing you should keep in mind, though, is never to stretch images. I noticed that a number of your images are warped. Try to keep the initial aspect ratio and it will look way better, and much more professional.

Noted! That would be Interceptor, who currently has no image editing software. This problem will be resolved when I badger him into installing Gimp.

I agree about the images. It kinda hurts my eyes to look at images like that, too.

I like your idea. I think you are on the right track. Another thing I'll suggest, and you can take it how you want to, is not to use cuss words in your titles. If you want to cuss in your posts, that's one thing, but I wouldn't do it in the titles. That might put some people off. To me, it comes across a little unprofessional. Again, just my opinion.

I like the site, though. I think you've got a great start!

sadiessay-so - Fair point. Never gave it much consideration. But now I wlll. I have a feeling that I would find it impossible to write without some kid of swearing, but yeah, titles could be toned down. This review thingy really works! Also - should have given you guys some warning - Some links are NSFW. (((If it looks risky - don't click at work)))

lol - I understand. You should hear me talk on a daily basis... I just thought that some people might be turned off by that. I really do want to see where you take this blog, though. Could be really interesting!

Hi Von. Site looks good ... striking colour scheme and eye-catching pictures (though I do agree with the other comments about not stretching them). Content is interesting and I enjoy your writing style.

Maybe cut down on the number of posts on the front page - I guess you'd like people to dig around a bit and not stay only on the front. Maybe add a monthly archive list instead of the calendar - personally I find that more effective? Good luck with it!

ianpeatey - true. Once we have enough content for a few more pages I'll break it up a bit more. However at present we've only really got enough for two pages, so I thought it better to stick it all up front. So, yeah, cheers for the tip - will probably be implemented in a few weeks!
