The Cerebral Mum isn't a mom blog. It's a niche blog. About me. I'm an expert.

I'm an Australian single mother with a one year old son who likes thinking. A lot. I'm abstract, I'm an INTP, and I like making sense of things. I care about what's going on in the world and I am fascinated by human behaviour, including my own. While there is a lot of naval gazing, I hope that there is also a lot that other people can relate to. I think there is, because in the short time I've been blogging I've built up quite a nice little community of readers.

I've recently moved to my own domain and upgraded to WordPress 2.3 so I haven't finished cleaning up my CSS for the switch from UTW to the new tagging function. Apart from that, visually I think it's tidy but not unique yet. And I need to switch to a fixed-width layout. I'll be working on that.

I would love to get some feedback from fresh eyes, eyes that have just "stumbled" upon me, so to speak. I don't know what kind of first impression my blog makes because most of my readers have found me in a more organic way.

You might not like it because, really, with personal blogs you have to like the person writing them and nobody is everyone's cup of tea. You can figure out if you might like me through reading my About page of course, but there is also a recent guest post which will give you another perspective.

Anyway, thank you in advance for any feedback. Feel free to be as blunt as you like. I'm not a flower.

I think it looks great. I like how the colors contrast and match your hair! I just noticed that as I started typing actually. Activity and navigation are great so not much to say there.

My only suggestion would be to work on getting a custom header which plays on the whole cerebral theme. You could have a lot of fun with it and it would give your blog a little more visual personality.

Thanks guys. I agree that I need to get a custom header. I've got a sandbox set up but haven't found time to play in it yet. I'm thinking of using some "brainbow" images, which are very cool and colourful, but actually a new brain imaging technique. Obscure, but cerebral. I'll slowly get to giving it some personality.

And boiled over, I'm glad you like the content too. That's the most important part!

I now have a favicon, a recoloured image of a neuron. (I won't embarrass myself by telling you how many times I swore at my wp-cache plugin before I realised I needed to clear my browser's cache. Doh.)
