I'd like some critiques on my wife's blog if you have the time

Good day to all.

My wife decided she wanted to start a blog in June and have me set one up for her. I set one up on blogger to see how interested she was and how well she would stick with it.

Well to my surprise it's done very well. The theme has gone through a couple revisions at this point. Mostly because we started with a theme she liked at first but then didn't suit are needs. I redid all the graphics and code from there. At this point we are in a place where only small changes are going to be made, minor graphic changes and such.

Her site is called "Hippies, Beauty, and Books. Oh My!" because at first she wanted to write about all three. She has found her passion in book reviews though. We still do some fashion and beauty stuff, but only because at this point the name can't be changed. The domain is already payed for and her name is to far out there.

We've gotten a good response from the general book blogging crowd. But I wanted to get an opinion from people that aren't really in the book review blogging niche and could give me an outsiders perspective.

I want truth please. Let me know everything and anything. What are your first thoughts? Do you find it easy to navigate? Is the content easy to find? Is the layout to distracting? Anything and everything. What would pull away from or add to the site? Please and thank you?!

it's not bad, but in my case it was loading too long and when it loaded, sth like two or three movies started play - what the hell?

i would remove some unnecessary distractions/things. if it's blog about books, focus on books, not on cats etc

The cat I have no say over. My wife loves that thing. And the videos I just discovered today. We ditched adsense and got adbrite. Adbrite has been a learning experience. I'm not a fan of video ads so im gonna have to take a look at that.
