Default My entertainment blog

Look up my blog, it's new, but I work several hours on it a day and try to post atleast 5-6 times a week now that I'm still working at my 9-5 job.

Your blog is decent, I never had time to look at the content but my first impression on the blog was that it looks good. You should try and promote your blog as much as you can because it seems that it hasn't been Alexa Ranked.

Okay, thanks. I'm new to all this. I submitted my website to google. Do I need to do anything in order to "apply" for Alexa. Or do I just need to promote like a madman?

I don't think you do because I checked and my site is ranked by them and I didn't do anything.

My biggest piece of advice: Unless you're going for controversy, avoid political views.

One of the first lines to a blog post on the main page says:

Quote:
Very much like a foreigner, Jay Leno has moved in and stolen a job
Stuff like this will turn a lot of people off (myself included). So again, unless that's what you're going for, keep it to plain entertainment news.

Yeah I thought about that for awhile, but then again, no matter what I joke about (it's all jokes), there is pretty much always someone that is going to be offended. Thanks for the input thought, I really do appreciate it, it's food for thought. I'll leave it there for now.

When you try to be funny with a jab or an insult or a violation of societal norms, you need to be _quite_ funny. You need to overcome the "boy, that's rude" reaction with an uncontrollable reaction of surprise and amusement.

I'm not getting that from a lot of your jokes. They're offensive, but sheer offensiveness is not funny on its own.

For example, you have to be prepared to laugh about children who've lost their father, to enjoy the Michael Jackson Grammy post. I'm sure that there are some comics who could achieve that, but the post isn't getting me to that point.

Some of the other jokes seem to depending on a common understanding that may not be all that common. For example, I'm not familiar with the stereotype that women from the USA are unwilling/unable to read - are you blogging outside the USA, and is this a common stereotype among a majority of your audience? If it's not a common stereotype that people will react to out of familiarity, then it's just a straightforward insult and, again, sheer offensiveness is not funny on its own.

Similarly, the second half of the same post shows a pretty clear contempt for women in general, not just women in the USA. No doubt people who hold women in contempt will enjoy it. But that's not the same as it being a joke, and I think that you're trying to have a joke blog, not a hate blog.

Thanks, it's just temporary thought, I'll try and get a unique template.

Alright, you have given me some things to think about. Thanks.

I certainly respect your opinion and I understand that it may be offensive to some. I expected that. It's difficult to make someone laugh by written form, since laughter is a form of communication and most people are alone when they read it therefore they don't laugh, unless like you said, something is genuienly really funny.
It's interesting, if I were on a comedy stage the majority of people would be laughing at these jokes. Like they sometimes say, delivery is pretty much everything.

On another note: Was there anything that you did like?
