"critique my blog! be as harsh as you can!"

I just tried "JackyRants", and I'm not sure how critical I can be of a blogspot blog. I could critique the content, but this is a personal blog - it's a representation of your interests. I could critique the template, but every blogspot site uses the same basic template. So I'm not really sure what you're expecting.

I can say is this: Personal blogs created on blogspot often come across as unprofessional. It's where people who have never created a blog go to start their first. It can give the impression the author doesn't have the knowledge/resources/dedication to register a domain and host their own blog. However, this is just a single opinion and shouldn't have any bearing on the platform you choose.

I'll be harsh with you Jacky - your writing is so good and captivating that I got lost on your blog for way longer than I could afford.... I'm a busy man and cannot spare this amount of time!

I like both of your blogs. But for the personal I would suggest you remove the box around your header. I think it would actually look better without it. You also might think about including something in your footer which seems empty except for that one Google ad.
One last thing I would also change the color of the date that is shown above each article headline so it doesn't stand out as much. It's not really distracting but it erodes the importance of your article headline.

Now for your writer's blog. I really like the image you put as a header but I think it's pretty big. If you first get to your blog the image takes up more than half of the page. You can hardly seem your content which I believe is what is supposed to be the most important thing on your writer's blog. So you might want to make that header image smaller.
I generally like the layout of the blog and how there is no sidebar because I think it would be distracting when reading your stories. Your stories are great by the way. Again as I've said about your other blog you might think about removing the date above your article headline or I would actually display it at the bottom of the post. I would also make your story headline stand out a bit more.
That's it :P I think your blogs are awesome though so keep it up.
