The Poorly Drawn News is a place where I post a news story every day, but I add a 'poorly drawn' picture accompanied by a brief article description and then my opinion on it. I figured it was something different from what's currently out there, so why not give it a shot? That and I always find the news so boring and dull, so I thought it would be fun to spice it up a bit.

That's an interesting blog! Okay here's what hit me when I looked at it:


I liked the twitter widget. I use twitter almost extensively to market my blog, so of course I like your widget. If you follow me, I'll follow you back (I am @SbuxMel)

One thing I noticed is that I couldn't find an obvious "archive" tab. Is your blog really new? Is there some quick way to find old blog posts and I'm just missing it?

You've got ads. Of course, I am suddenly realize that most of the world has ads, but I tend to not like them and think they're too much of a distraction. I vote against ads, but in particular, I don't think ads belong on a new blog.

((PS - You've got interesting content. Picked out some interesting news articles - yours would also be an easy blog to swap comments back and forth ... well assuming you like coffee or Starbucks. LOL))

Thanks for your advice! Yes, it is a new blog so the archive isn't even 2 months old. I will follow you on twitter! I did want to try to blend the ads in more, and odds are I will try to make them more camouflaged or part of the site.

You're welcome. If you're blogging consistently, you'll need to an add archive pretty fast - or some way for your readers to find older blog entries. Keep up the good work.

Hi, I've been to your site and this is what I observed

1. Template -
great color scheme with minimalist touch (I'm a sucker for minimalist designs).

2. I agree with Melody you have a cuddly "blue bird" widget (twitter).

3. Blog Archive -
You might want to rename "Blog Calendar" to Blog Archive, you don't want to confuse your reader, do you? and try to place it at the top most part of your sidebar where it's easily accessible.

4. Concept and content -
Excellent, you have taken a step further by thinking out of the box, good sign for success.

5. Ads -
Personally, i found your ads tolerable, minimal and out of the way of your content.

6. Subscription button -
Just like your Blog Archive, you might also like to place it at the top most part of your sidebar just above you blog archive for easy access .

Overall, your blog is OK, not bad for a new blog, keep it updated always.

Hi poorlydrawnnews! You do have an enjoyable blog! I've seen the knife-in-chest-guy-orders-coffee news before, but it was fun to see again. I see you added an archive! Excellent. Keep up the good work.

Overall I think you have a good blog. The content has the right amount of snarkiness to keep it attractive as link bait. However, if I were you I would consider toning down the ads a bit. Those "belly fat" ads aren't particularly attractive.

Hi! I went to your blog today and found it very original. I don't often see hand-drawn cartoons illustrating a blog. I think that is a good idea, and I can see people liking it.

I think the cartoons are cute, and I like the way you add color to them. I like the fact that you have a Fan Drawings section and a place to contact you too.

Having a website name that matches your blog is also good. The only question would have is your slogan "News That Makes You Happy." This is just my take on it, but to me the news is entertaining, but not everything I read there makes me happy. I don't have a substitute saying I can think of yet, but maybe another word for happy would help.

You also may want to fix the 3rd post title, which should be "Impaled with Knife, Man Orders Coffee."

I wish you the very best of luck on this blog. It's a terrific idea, and has a lot of potential.
