Talking Carbon Offsetting, Green Affiliate Marketing and Online Marketing Blog

This is my blog about carbon offsetting, green affiliate marketing and online marketing. I will be writing about carbon offsetting affiliate programs and what the online marketing community can do to help save the environment as well as about general online marketing issues.

Neat looking site - but I'm sorry, I don't understand carbon offsets. So I pay someone money for all of my pollution and I'm 'forgiven'? What does that person do to make it better? That just sounds an awful lot like what the Catholic Church did back in during the Renaissance era and after with people's sins. They said that if you paid money to the church you were forgiven...

Sadie

That is one way of looking at it. The fact is we all need to do more about the environment. We need to reduce the amount of energy we use, we can not total reduce it so offsetting some that we can not reduce helps. Also one big thing is that the more people are aware of their carbon footprint and offset their carbon the less energy they use . Carbon offsetting helps carbon footprint reduction.

Thing recycling, at first only a few people did it, then lots, now because you have to recycle you are aware of packaging and try and reduce the packaging you use.

I looked at my carbon footprint once - in fact, I have an ad on my site about it. I believe in helping the environment. I do the whole taking-my-own-bag-to-the-supermarket-thing, and I recycle when I can, etc, and I understand the carbon footprint, but, again, when I buy a carbon offset, what does that money go towards? The person I buy it from - what do they do with it?

Hey

We try and ensure that as much of the money as possible goes to the projects such as investing in renewal energy, if you look out partner program you can see all the details. The exact amounts do vary from program to program but we are aware that we want to deliver value for our customers and we are here to build a long term brand with ethical values.

That's good - it makes me feel a little better. On a lot of sites I've been to before I could never find exactly what they did! It was just like I was handing them money to excuse my sins. I'm all for donating to a good cause. The world won't ever become a better place without people like you who want to do the work to make it that way, and people who make the donations so that you can do your work.
