It's an interesting and clever idea. There were some interesting posts. However, you should make sure you can moderate posts.

Moderation is being taken care of already. No problems with that so far.
Yes the concept is pretty much forum like just that users publish whole blog articles.

Well it does not go so smooth as expected... Lacking a lot of writers! Any ideas how to increase it? I am thinking of money rewarding but dont really have the capital to begin with...

Having tried something similar to this (as I said before) I definitely see what you were thinking, perhaps more than some of the other commentors. I think the idea (or at least this was the idea when I tried to do it) is that not everybody has the time or the interest in running their own blog, but they might still have something they'd like to write about once in awhile.

That said, it's probably not going to do much good to promote this idea on blogging sites because you're likely to only find people who do have their own blogs, and therefore aren't that interested in this. One idea that we had was to encourage people (via myspace, facebook, etc) who have bands, films, etc that they'd like to promote to do so by writing an article about it for our blog.

It didn't work that well for us, but I still think that's potentially a good way of finding writers, that could work if you put enough time into it. We didn't have that kind of time and ended up turning our blog into something else, but it's something that you might want to try.

That sounds good the myspace and facebook idea, I will try that at some point. OpenBlog is running for 2 months now and I have more than enough time left to go, so I will see how it goes.
