Everyone can blog not just the owner

Wow, I tried this exact concept about a year ago -- with virtually no success. Originally Blendetta (blendetta.com) was a pop culture blog where anybody could post their thoughts on music, tv, film, or video games. Me and the other editor promoted the idea through a ton of social sites, blogging sites, etc. Pretty much everybody we talked to thought it was a great idea -- but then nobody actually posted anything. We only ever got a handful of submissions.

After about 6 months of this, we changed the concept to just have posts from the two of us, as well as occassional guest bloggers. Since we've done that, we've had a lot more traffic and a much better response in general.

Have you found it difficult to find writers? Looking at your blog, it looks like you've had a bit more success than we did with getting people to post articles -- I'm curious how you've found people.

What differentiates your blog from a wiki?

It was very hard to find at least some writers. I tried a lot of blog directories so I thing the most traffic comes from those.

I thought there might be more people interested but who knows maybe once it will be popular at least more than now.

I think that most people, myself included would rather post on their own blogs and enjoy the traffic themselves. I'm sure that there are at least some people who will be interested, though. You'll just have to give the site time to be discovered by enough people.

The difference from wiki is that it is a blog not an encyklopedia. I realize that many people rather run their own blog but what about those who just dont run their own. That is the point of OpenBlog.
Of course when I created this I had in my mind that this project will not develop over night but maybe a few years who knows.

cool idea but there's not really any point to it. If someone wants to blog, just let them start a wordpress account or something and make their own where they can customize the design and write about a specific category.

Announcing 2000 unique visits... I must say that fortunately the unique visits per day are about 30 - 40 so at least something but still very few writers...

Interesting concept, but somebody can just as easily set a a blogspot account, no?
