Well I guess since I got the "right" now to show off my blog, I might as well use it. ![]() The blog that I would like to show off today is Small Web Biz. The idea behind it was to help people that want to create an online business but do not know how to promote/market their site. It has kinda drifted away from the main topic a little bit which is against what I write on the blog so I need to drift back towards the original topic. Anyway, tell me what you think! Thanks, Derek |

Hi Derek Site looks professional - maybe a little dull looking. You are in a very competitive 'niche' (if you can call this a niche when every other blog seems to be on a similar subject). I think you need something to catch attention (header, graphic, colour?). You have some good content here, it would be a shame if people just passed it by looking for a more eye-catching site. A couple of things bugged me. First was the pop-up advert strip right at the top for your hosting provider. I just hate those things (the ad, not the provider!)! Second .. how can I put this politely? I can't, so here goes .. the spelling and especially the quality of English is really shocking in some places (e.g. 'Get Loyalty Readers'). If there is one thing that's going to put me off taking a blog seriously then it's a post full of mistakes. I guess I'm not the only one. Some blogs (mine, for example ) can get away with it ... I don't think a blog on your subject can! If you can get that fixed up then I think this could be a big success. Ian

Ian, Thanks for the review. I will be sure to look into the spelling and grammar issues as well as the strip at the top of the blog. I was trying it out, but it doesn't seem to be producing any results. Thanks! Derek |

You're going to want to change the permalink structure, otherwise your SEO is going to go down the drain. As well, I agree with above. Proofread, and seriously improve your grammar/composition. The best way to do this is to read. One thing on content: you might want to start expanding your articles. Every blog out there regurgitates the same chunks of "tips and tricks." Now is the time for examples, experiments, and innovations. Do some research, conduct some projects, report some results, yeah? I would also suggest taking advantage of typography. This article: Small Web Biz » How to Have Loyal Readers is extremely long and has no bold parts, italics, outlinks, or anything else to draw your eye down. Images, bold type, headings: used correctly, these tools will draw in readers ![]() Nice start to your blogging career. Time to learn some new skills and fine tune.

I agree with you on your comments. I am working on coming up with some new ideas for the site. Thanks again for everyone that has commented. I am really glad that their are people out there who share their experiences with other people. |
