Default 2 Fastest Ways to Get Your Blog Reviewed on Bloggeries Blog Reviews!

Hi everyone,

*Please Note* - When requesting a blog review; I know you want a blog review so don't mention it in the title; just give a good description / keyword rich title of your blog.

Lately I've been getting lots of emails from people requesting blog reviews. It's great that they have become so popular. I'm writing this thread to help everyone who is serious about getting a blog review get it done as quickly as possible.

Before I tell you the fastest methods let me tell you how to do the basic request a blog review. By simply requesting a blog review there is no guarantee it will be reviewed however it definitely might be. Make a thread in the "Request a Blog Review" section and link to your blog and tell me why you'd like it reviewed and how you heard about us.

Next write a descriptive summary of your site ~100-200 words with an appropriate title and direct link in the "Show off Your Blog" section. This last part isn't necessary for a review but you might as well it's great exposure if written properly.

The 2 fastest ways to get a blog review from Bloggeries is by following our forum promotion or a donation.

I'd like to give priority to those who post in the forum and are helping it become an increasingly relevant and useful blog resource. Your blog review will also include 2-3 other links to bloggeries or categories we found interesting.

If you aren't into posting or can't wait we always accept donations. A donation will guarantee your blog is reviewed within 72 hours; often much sooner. Another benefit of the donation is you can pick the 2-3 other links!

I'd like to thank everyone who has submitted their blog for a review so far. I hope this thread helps clear some things up and ensure you get a timely review if you are serious.

Looking forward to hearing about your blogs!
Rob

With due respect, I'd like to comment on the blog reviews that are being done on the Bloggeries blog.

(1) I've read a couple of reviews and find them too "good". I mean, if all blogs are reviewed in such positive tone, it beats the purpose of submitting a blog for a review, doesn't it? If I were to submit my blog for a review, I'd expect the reviewer to give me a thorough, honest review, inside-out including the good and bad points. That's how we improve on our blogs

(2) I think it's not necessary for the reviewer to talk about the "navigation" of a blog, or whether the blogger is using a Top Commentators plugin or whether he has the "most popular" posts on his sidebar because as a blogger myself, I constantly learn, change and improve my blog. So if I use a certain plugin today, it doesn't mean that I'll use it forever. Furthermore, plugins are supposed to add functionalities to our blog, so I find it redundant that a certain blogger gets commended for using them.

I hope I have not spoken too much. The above are just my thoughts. I am not a trained reviewer, hence I have no idea how we should go about reviewing blogs. But perhaps we can discuss in the forum, and come up with a list of criteria for evaluation??

So flattery isn't one of the ways to get a review then? Damn.

Err.. I think it falls back on the reasons the reviews are done in the first place. if reviews are to make people happy and all, yeah, you're on the right track.

But if the reviews are to help bloggers improve on their own blog so, perhaps the reviewers should be more honest with their opinions. After all, if you go to the doctor, you'd expect the doctor to tell you the whole truth, rather than sending you home with a "You're doing good!", don't you think so?

Hi Pelf,

I appreciate your comments but am not entirely sure how to answer. Basically everyone is entitled to their opinion and the blog reviews are the opinions of the reviewer.

Myself or the reviewer are not "doctors" we have no degree or formal authority. I like short blog posts; others like long blog posts. According to one side the other may be wrong but are they wrong? Everything is just a matter of preference and the point of the Bloggeries blog reviews is exposure and constructive criticism. So any criticism we may have is done in a positive light because they are our opinion and everyone is entitled to their own.

I understand you'd like more in-depth reviews and that may come in the future but it would have to be a paid service considering the length of time each review would take. At the moment they are being done free of charge and are a quick overview of the site ~350-750 words with a few deep links to interesting bloggeries and a keyword rich title and description. It is basically a here it is, what it's about, how it's setup, what we thought about it and how we thought it could be improved. There is no right or wrong answer as every blogs "worth" is in the eye of the beholder so we try and put a positive spin on everything even while offering criticism.

If you have suggestions for criteria I'm very interested in hearing your thoughts.

Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts on this topic
Rob

I think I understand what pelf81 meant...

They are basically two kind of reviews right now on the web :

1) The trashing reviews, focusing on what's wrong in the blog
2) The positive reinforcement, introducing a new blog and letting readers judge by themselves

I think Bloggeries falls into the second category... and there's nothing wrong with that !

I personally enjoy reading both kind of review. Yes, mean reviewers too - as long as they're not talking about my blog ! I know, it's bad...

I think Bloggeries introduces us to a bunch of blog, and then we are the judges.

@ Rob: You said, "... any criticism we may have is done in a positive light because they are our opinion and everyone is entitled to their own..." and well, as much as I'd agree with you, I do have something to add to that.

Well, if somebody asks me to review her blog, I'd do it, honestly, and she is supposed to do something about (act on) my review/comments. I mean, you asked me in the first place because you thought I could help you improve your blog, right? And after the review, if you didn't like what you read, or if you're not going to act on my comments and suggestions, why did you ask me to review it in the first place?!

If you only want to hear nice things about your blog, no offense, but why don't you get your other half to review it? I'm sure your other half won't say anything bad about your blog.. You get my idea?

But then again, Rob, you're right. More in-depth reviews require more time, and hence should be compensated. Perhaps we need to define "blog review" as well

@ zhuli: I get the part about 2 types of reviews, and I'm OK with that too.. But one of my earlier points was whether it is necessary to mention, "The navigation on the blog is... The header is... Both sidebars are on the left of the blog..."

I don't know whether *that* is called a review. Moreover, like I mentioned earlier, I experiment with my blog, so I move my sidebars and widgets a lot.

Another thing is, "introduce a bunch of blogs" isn't the same as "review a bunch of blogs". If I introduce you a blog, I'd just say, "Hi, this is so and so's blog." But in a review, I'd mention a lot more than just the mandatory introduction..

Hi,

I can see what both of you are saying but Zhuli doesn't actually do any reviews so she is just expressing her opinions of how she perceived it and not necessarily speaking on behalf of Bloggeries. The reviews do make suggestions on how to improve ones blog and they can be found at the end of each post.

Pelf: your suggestions are quite valid and in the near future I"m going to take some of them to heart and usher in some changes.

Rob
