Default Looking for software to help me start podcast...help

Hi all,

I've been interested in starting a podcast for a while now. I'm a musician and I envision a platform where I will interview local musicians, producers, etc. as well as those that I meet online - to talk about their inspiration when writing, their process, etc.

But, logistically, I'm curious if there is software available to help me bridge the distance barrier between me and any guests that I meet online. I can't think of how to record an interview unless my guest is in the studio with me, which might not be possible very often. Does anyone know of any software that might take care of this issue? Also, it would be great if there were programs available to help me catalog, manage and publish (to the internet) my shows once they are recorded.

Does anyone have any advice?

Thanks

Thanks for sharing. I'm going to look into that in more depth very soon. We do alot of conference calling where I work and it can get very expensive. I like the idea of doing all with VOIP. Further more the recording function is gold!

I'm also looking into getting into podcasting. I purchased screen show pro recently it seems like a good tool for making how to guides, lessons, ect.

Default Wirecast?

Has anyone tried Wirecast? I think Cali Lewis from GeekBrief.tv said that's what they use for their podcast. Don't know if that will really work for what you want it for...but it can't hurt to try.

Default Podcast software

I found a bunch of great software on Cnet.com. I went to the download section and I was able to try out several software packages with buying.

I have a mini-studio here at home with an inline patch to capture phone call - but I do a LOT of recording so it's worth it.

Most people I know use a recording service like Audio Acrobat. Free conference call companies work too, but the sound quality varies.

You can always use Skype.

Or, you should look into Blog Talk Radio Internet Radio, Citizen Broadcasting, Social Media Podcasts - Blog Talk Radio. I use them for a live daily morning show. It's super easy, they provide all the tools and host the audio.
