Default YouTube still for the little guy?

YouTube is famous for its use by normal everyday people uploading their own videos....producing their own content and putting it out there for the world to see.

I was reading this article Link that mentioned the earliest "royalty" there, and how that's changed so that the guys up top aren't really people at all....they're things like the NBA channel or tv shows.

As YouTube continues to grow and grow, is it still possible for the little guys to really break into it and get a huge benefit out of it? I know some people who have vlogs/video blogs directly on YouTube....but as the bigger videos and companies take advantage of it more and more, is it still useful for those who are trying to get their own work out there?

Well, it's capitalism all over here again.

If big corps produce better content than the smaller guy, then it's definitely be harder for the little guy to break through right?

I think it is more that the big guys have built in name recognition. That automatically gets them more hits which gets them better placement. All a big corp needs to do is to tell all their employees to "check out the new video" and they will have more hits than the average person will ever get.

Now it takes a lot more for the little guy to get noticed. So no, I don't think YouTube has the benefits for the little guy like it used to.

There were website's with video's that promotes adsense ads along with videos. I dont remember what that site was but it was awesome to generate income from videos.

i think the little guy has the ability to be just as big as the big guy because youtube can be used also as a social networking site which means that the more friends you have the more that are going to see your vids. if it is well done they will pass it on for their friends to see, if you do it regularly you are bound to create a fan base and things can only get better ,just as long as the quality is there. i mean it gets to a point where the vids you make may no longer appeal to the audience you have aquired, but as some leave most often others will replace them

but the little guy does have to make good videos, for my long winded theory to work

I think that the little guy doesn't have much of a chance, the reason being is that in our society today, you cant express ANY opinion ESPECIALLY on youtube, because haters will find it so fast, and then your reputation is ruined. So, the only way the little guy has a chance is if they don't express an opinion, or they make the audience laugh.

yeh and no.... take "angry aussie" for example, go look at him and then tell me he's not expressing his opinion. haters can only write and rate bad but like i said before if you connect with someone they are likely to subscribe and give good reviews and good ratings and then collectively drive out haters

I think that content is king as with much else. If you can add a uniquetake on your postings that the big folk are to mainstream to admit or realize you can get some attention.

I think people will always like to watch authentic films from real people. It's reality TV at it's best and the world is in love with reality TV!
