Default Filming a Video Blog - What Resolution?

What resolution do you use when filming a video blog segment?

I just filmed one but it's 700 megs. I know it's on a really high resolution so I'm looking to change that I suppose. Or do you start with them large like that and have a program which makes it web ready?

My camera can shoot at 1080i at maximum res. I now shoot at 720p, which is still more than you'll need for online.

Unless you are filming to have it shown on AppleTV or something, you really don't need anything super hires. If you are just going to host it on youtube especially.

Everything. That's what I thought but for some reason it didn't appear I could change from 1280 which doesn't really make sense. Also 1.5 minute vids are ... well... 780 megs!

I'm going to look online if I can dumb the camera down.

You should be able to find a program that will cut your video down to size. If you don't think you'll want them for anything else, then there's no harm in just changing your camera size, but if you think you'll ever need those higher resolution ones, then get in the habit of taking them as high res and then cutting them down.

Now we're talking. I use one for images but never thought about it for video. Still new to the whole video thing as I only bought my camera on Boxing Day.

Case in point; attached photo was 5 megs; now it's 15K They were taken yesterday in St. John's Newfoundland Canada.

Hey Gangstah,

What tool do you use to compress them down? I am going to make a "Sunday Morning Drive" segment to my blog. Basically me talking about whatever I want while driving around.

Thanks, I love good free programs. Not much one for dusting off the wallet.

I'm going to try and make one asap.
