I'm thinking about setting up my own podcast, but I would like to ask all pod casters this question; how often do you create new episodes in your podcast and what's your schedule for the production of the episode?

I'm not a podcaster, but it's really going to depend on 'you' and your purpose. What kind of podcasts would you like to do? What's your goal with them? I know some people add a new podcast weekly, and continue posting text in between. Others do only podcast and update how ever often they want to, etc.

If you're going to do a scheduled podcast try and stick to weekly. Its often enough people don't lose interest, but it gives you enough time to get it done and edited.
As a tip, make sure to edit your podcast. No one wants to hear a bunch of background noise, or the mistakes you made. Download audacity and clean it up a little before you post it anywhere.

Most podcasts I listen to are (sort of) weekly, in that they try to be weekly, but they're all done by people with other jobs and so sometimes time constraints get in the way, and if you explain this before hand then people are understanding. There's nothing worse for fans of a podcast than to look for it and for it to not be there, this will gain you a bunch of complaints.
