Any Podcasters on here?

Anyone here offer Podcasts in addition to their regular blog? We just started playing with the concept, and I found an incredible plug-in for Wordpress that makes it VERY simple to setup. It's called PodPress (http://www.mightyseek.com/podpress/), and if you've been gun shy about getting into it because it seems too complicated, try this software and give it a shot.

Like I said, I'm still new to it, so any suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated!

I haven't gotten into podcasting yet however I think it's very important. Not sure which direction to take: new content or reading some of my current content into podcast form. I think in order to get the most of it the best would be to make new content for your podcast but get it transcribed so you can put it in text as well as search engine spiders can only read text and don't understand audio. How long have you been podcasting for? I'm very interested and if a few others are maybe we should make a category for it? Podcasting is definately a way to the future and can be great stand-alone or as an addition to any current blog.

No problem.. We've only been doing it for 2-3 weeks now, so we're still working out the kinks. But we've got a weekly show that's 20-25 minutes in length, where we cover a wide variety of topics. We make a post on the blog that tells the readers what the Podcast covers, so they can make the decision if they want to listen or not. It's not a transcript though, maybe just 2-3 sentences explaining what they're about to listen to. (see The Gab Report - 06/06/2007 » NFL GridIron Gab for an example of how our weekly show works)

We also do a number of 2-5 minute blurbs throughout the week on any hot topics, exclusive interviews, etc. We make all of the Podcast material unique, and since people can stream the casts right from the blog, we feel that there won't be a technology barrier that traditional Podcasts carry.

It is an exciting technology, though I'm concerned about how much bandwidth it'll eat up. Only time will tell if that will become a problem or not. (Our weekly show is around 25MB)

I recently came accross a website, www.speakupstudios.com.

They allow you to record a podcast with an unlimited number of guest hosts from any working phone. I'm still not quite sure how it works, but I know that it's free. They allow you to post the podcasts up on their site for free as well on a profile page. Could be a nice way to save on your own servers bandwidth - you know. Plus, from what I've seen, it's very user friendly. Some of the other podcast websites can be a bit tough to navigate.

Anyone seen these guys before?

I have a question. I just wanted to do a podcast once in a while, just for the fun of it, and I don't need the RSS (because I'm not going to do a show, there won't be episodes at all). In fact, I just need a website that allows me to record the audio, hosts the files, and lets me place the code on my blog.

So my question is, is it still called a "podcast"?
And if yes, can anybody recommend any sites that provides such services?

Just creating audio and posting it on your site isn't podcasting and you mentioned the one thing that makes an audio a podcast: an RSS feed.

A podcast is simply providing some kind of media via an RSS feed

A buddy of mine is a fiction author, and he uses PodPress to produce his podcasts. He produces audio 'mini stories' that provide background or teasers for his books.

Our church has been putting the weekly messages up on the website as streamable but not downloadable. When I discovered they wanted to podcast it, my buddy walked me through the process of using PodPress.

It was cake and it works very well. It took me only a couple of hours to throw together a Wordpress blog, install PodPress and get everything working in a way that someone else (who maintains the streamable audio) could upload the pods every week. It's been working flawlessly every since!

I only podcast every know and then as well, and I use Odeo Studio It's free and perfect for podcasters who do not really do a show but just episodes now and then.

I am a complete noob to podcasting(never tried it). I am going to have to look at some of these programs. Are there good results from doing this?

I have been podcasting for a little over a year now and I try to do 30 minute shows when I have time. This is in edition to my normal content and I don't transcribe it. I just find it refreshing to be able to offer a different medium to my members. To be honest I have not done it for my blog just yet but I might expand to there. I really enjoy it all, but I want to get into introducing music and effects into it also. I have to get my audio skills up. Some people love it and some people will tell you they don't want to listen. These are en example of what I do Site Podcast . Anyways, if you want to do it, I highly recommend it, but make sure you are in a fairly quite environment. I usually do mine at 3-4am so everyone is asleep.
