Wow, that's just what I would say. I use to love drawing until I realized that I can't draw. But I might give Flash a try and see how that works.

Both of you, do yourself a favor and visit this site: Your Webcomic is Bad and You Should Feel Bad

If you can look through those and still think you're not good enough to do a webcomic, you're not paying attention.

And Mr. Robert? "I use to love drawing until I realized that I can't draw." In my opinion, the only words worth reading in that sentence are "love drawing"...that alone is reason enough to do it.

I absolutely stink at lots of things I enjoy...doesn't stop me from enjoying them.

I understand what you mean but I'm no longer passionate about. But thanks for the link, I added it to my Favorites.

1) re: artistic ability .... xkcd.com

2) Anyone can blog. The barrier to entry is very low. Podcasting requires more skill, effort and commitment. You can get more traffic from iTunes alone, but you will have to work much harder to do it.

I'll have to ask you, what all did you do to post your podcast?

My blogging is done on a site I share with some friends, and we've been talking about doing a podcast as a group. I'd really like to use podcasting as another vector for promoting our group as a whole, but my biggest concern is that we spend a lot of time refining it, and then no one bothers to listen, and it fails completely.

I certainly hope that videos/vlogging boosts traffic. A considerable part of the entire concept behind my site, involves allowing users to express themselves by means of posting vlogs.

Hmm I've been considering doing a blog pilot for my blog, specially since there's so much stuff going through this season with E3, ComiCon and Otakon all around the same 30 days. How much did your traffic increase in visits if you dont mind me asking? I know the graph gives an idea of percentage but behavior changes a lot with traffic.

As an experiment do this:

1) Estimate the number of blogs in your niche. Do a Google search, check Technorati, whatever.

2) Go to iTunes and check the number of podcasts in your niche.

My guess is that regardless what your niche is #1 >>>>> #2.

Podcasting has much less competition because the barrier to entry is higher.

My blog as about 500 RSS subscribers and it took 16 months to get that.

My iTunes feed has 120 subscribers after 1 month.

The number of independent (not National Geographic or Discovery Channel) video travel podcasts can be counted on one hand. The number of travel blogs is in the tens of thousands.

I'm moving more and more of my effort to the podcast. Not only is the return better, but it does more to develop a brand around myself.

In February 2006 I attended an internet marketing bootcamp held by Internet Marketing Center - Learn How to Make Money Online and they couldn't stress enough that we are in a whole new era, podcasting is new and it's your chance to get in ground floor. They used the same example you did which was even more true than but still incredibly true now.

I'll be checking out your podcasts soon. I also think podcasting well at least for me is easier as I'm extroverted and enjoy talking. I find it easier get my point across talking instead of writing.

This is crazy! Thanks for sharing this... Maybe I've overlooked the potential of podcasting!
