Thank you for partaking in my questionnaire ![]() N/B: The first five are structured questions while questions 6-10 are open ended and require long answers. 1. How often do you blog? Weekly/Monthly/Rarely 2. What do you blog about mostly?

Yes/No 6.Why do you blog? 7.Does blogging help with your social needs? (Social needs being the idea of belonging within the blogging community and readers commenting on your posts) 8.Does blogging help with your safety needs? (Safety needs being that you feel secure posting your entries on an online medium) 9.Does blogging help with your esteem needs? (Esteem needs being you feel independent, self confident and self worth) 10.Which need (social, esteem and safety) most likely affects the way you blog? Why is that? | 1. How often do you blog? Weekly/Monthly/Rarely Daily 2. What do you blog about mostly?
3. Do your blog entries mostly reflect positive or negative thoughts? Positive/Negative 4.Does Blogging help your self esteem? Yes/No 5.Do you interact with the readers of your blog? Yes/No 6.Why do you blog? Oh, good question. I originally started blogging because my brother moved away and suggested to me to keep him "in the loop" as to what was going on in our lives. I started but got bored, then started and got bored and about 5 blogs came and went like this. I left blogging for about 6 months. Then, in April of this year I decided to start again. Vowing to change. I now wouldn't be blogging for anyone but myself and I'd post once very few days (as one of the hardest things I found was posting regularly). In August, things changed... First, A huge blog (2000+ views per day) linked to me and I got an upsurge in readers. Second, I got angry at my brother emailing me saying "You haven't updated in 5 days: your blog's beginning to smell". I kind of got angry and said. "Fine! Daily updates from now on!" So there started me blogging seriously.. 7.Does blogging help with your social needs? (Social needs being the idea of belonging within the blogging community and readers commenting on your posts) Erm, to a certain extent definitely. I enjoy interacting with readers and other bloggers. I am blessed with having contact with a lot of excellent bloggers who I could ask advice of easily. 8.Does blogging help with your safety needs? (Safety needs being that you feel secure posting your entries on an online medium) Hmmm.. Not really. I'd easily stand on a soapbox and yell out my posts, as it were, but it'd be more unusual certainly... 9.Does blogging help with your esteem needs? (Esteem needs being you feel independent, self confident and self worth) It feels cool everyone saying how they love my blog and it's something my parents are proud of and often pass on to their friends. 10.Which need (social, esteem and safety) most likely affects the way you blog? Why is that? I'd say either the social or the esteem side of things. I enjoy the blogging community around me and I also love the way I'd be MSNing someone and they'd suddenly say "Oh, BTW, loved the latest post" Thanks for an interesting survey! |

I am 18 so I fit right in middle quite well. 1. How often do you blog? I usually blog every other day on my book review blog, every three to four days on my surreal writing blog. 2. What do you blog about mostly? Book Reviews would have to fit in the entertainment category, and my poetry and prose would have to fit in art. 3. Do your blog entries mostly reflect positive or negative thoughts? Mostly positive, except for a few books that are badly written, and even then I don't go overboard with the negative. My poetry sometimes expresses negative thoughts, but I try to approach negative feelings in a positive way. 4.Does Blogging help your self esteem? Yes, I feel that I am leaving at least a little mark on the world, and I enjoy seeing hundreds of visitors pass through my blogs every day. 5.Do you interact with the readers of your blog? Yes, I always respond to reader's comments. 6.Why do you blog? I blog because I write. What I write requires readers. In addition, I hope that one day my surreal writing blog will lead to a publishing contract, and my book review blog will be able to be monetized. 7.Does blogging help with your social needs? (Social needs being the idea of belonging within the blogging community and readers commenting on your posts) Perhaps a little. I appreciate the people who return to my blogs again and again. I also enjoy meeting people through my efforts to promote my blogs. 8.Does blogging help with your safety needs? (Safety needs being that you feel secure posting your entries on an online medium) I can't say that blogging helps with safety needs. Anything on the internet is never safe, because you can't tell who will come through to steal your work or to leave a spam or negative comment. 9.Does blogging help with your esteem needs? (Esteem needs being you feel independent, self confident and self worth) Certainly. Blogging has shown me that it is possible to create successful outlet for my writing skills. It has also shown me that people seem to love my writing and having 25 followers subscribed to my writing blog is definitely boosting my self-esteem. 10.Which need (social, esteem and safety) most likely affects the way you blog? Why is that? I would say esteem. Social needs are good, but mostly I started my blogs because I wanted to show my writing to the world.

I'm 17...in case you needed to know. 1. How often do you blog? Weekly...but actually daily. 2. What do you blog about mostly? * News/ Politics 3. Do your blog entries mostly reflect positive or negative thoughts? Generally positive, but the negative comes through when it needs to. 4.Does Blogging help your self esteem? No. 5.Do you interact with the readers of your blog? Yes. 6.Why do you blog? I blog because it's a great way to keep myself in check with what's going on in the world and it allows me to have my thoughts heard in a world where free-thinking is slowly dying. 7.Does blogging help with your social needs? (Social needs being the idea of belonging within the blogging community and readers commenting on your posts) I like being a part of the blogging community because it's a big thing in today's society. I don't feel like I really need readers and comments, but it is a cool experience to know what other people think about the topics you like to write about. 8.Does blogging help with your safety needs? (Safety needs being that you feel secure posting your entries on an online medium) I don't think I understand this question. I feel safe blogging, but I don't feel any safer on the internet because of blogging... 9.Does blogging help with your esteem needs? (Esteem needs being you feel independent, self confident and self worth) It does help with my self-esteem a little. I like to know that my thoughts are being heard and I feel a sense of fulfillment knowing that I can bring more information to people. 10.Which need (social, esteem and safety) most likely affects the way you blog? Why is that? Probably esteem. I know that I need to set goals to find stories people want to read about and when I find something that I can bring to my readers it gives me a sense of self-satisfaction.

1. How often do you blog? Several times a week, although not always daily. 2. What do you blog about mostly? Other 3. Do your blog entries mostly reflect positive or negative thoughts? Mostly positive, although I do occasionally post public service announcements about things that are negative....but I feel they should be seen by my audience. 4.Does Blogging help your self esteem? Maybe? I do it because I enjoy it, and I don't blog about my own life, so it's not like it's a place for me to vent or look for compliments or anything. Because I enjoy it, though, it's not harmful to me, ya know? 5.Do you interact with the readers of your blog? Yes 6.Why do you blog? That could be an incredibly lenghty answer, haha. 7.Does blogging help with your social needs? (Social needs being the idea of belonging within the blogging community and readers commenting on your posts) Meh, long before I had my first comments or regular readers....and before I joined blog forums, etc....I still enjoyed doing it. I definitely love meeting new people and such, but I don't blog because it fulfills that sort of social "need" for me....it's just a benefit of it. 8.Does blogging help with your safety needs? (Safety needs being that you feel secure posting your entries on an online medium) Nope. I don't post on a kind of blog that would require me to fear for my safety and such. 9.Does blogging help with your esteem needs? (Esteem needs being you feel independent, self confident and self worth) This was more or less answered with number 4....but in reference to what you have in parentheses, no, it doesn't do anything for me in direct regards to independence, confidence, self-worth, etc. You're likely looking for more "personal" or "journaling" type bloggers for this questionnaire, though. 10.Which need (social, esteem and safety) most likely affects the way you blog? Why is that? I suppose social. I love seeing what people are searching for and being able to offer more information about those things. I enjoy fulfilling 'their' needs, whether it's for humor or pictures or actual informational desires. It entertains me. It entertains them. I've met a lot of great people in the process, too, so even though many of those relationships continued outside the blogging realm, they began there, at the very least.
