Ok I see your point. The problem is that a lot of people don't read or listen or watch enough news to really understand anything thats going on in the country. I could see how Obama could be considered to be the "cool" vote, but I would hope people actually look at what they are running on before they vote.

One of the biggest problems I have with this election is how ugly it has gotten. I know that all elections have those ads against their opponent, but seriously it's getting bad. If you are going to run an ad against someone, say one thing they are doing opposite of you, and then say what you are going to differently. Not just a whole ad saying this person does this thing or that.

I will be happy when this over but I'm anxious as hell as to what is going to happen.

Yes, I feel the same way. I just can’t wait to see who the president is, what they really do... and if the economy improves.

We shall see, right?

I'm sorry, I've tried to be quiet. I'm not going to say anything, but I just want you to look at this picture and answer my one thing: How can you support a man who so blatantly disrespects the country? Even stupid Hilary has her hand over her heart...

That picture means absolutely nothing to me. He has the right to put his hand over his chest or not just like I have the right to go burn a flag if I want.

Freedom of speech protects the rights of things you don't like.

I will not vote for McCain because the entire time he has done nothing but attack Obama's "character" with false accusations and made up stories. He talks about Obama having unsavory acquaintances when he is the one that was part of the Keating 5 and held a fundraiser for Gordon Libby at his house.

The watergate scandal was a pretty big deal and it McCain was right up in the middle of it.

Then he picks someone who has no right to be the governor of Alaska, let alone a vice president. With McCain being as old as he is and with the health problems he has had, you have to seriously think about her becoming president in the next four years if they were to get elected.

She talks about reforming Washington when she really has no idea what they do. She was found guilty of violating ethics laws and she is supposed to reform Washington?

Every president before G. W. Bush was a great public speaker. They were able to complete full sentences and get the crowd excited. I don't see that in McCain but I do in Obama. Not that should be the only reason to vote for him, but I think it should help.

Something else that is incredible is the large crowds that Obama is surrounded by. Some where around 80k in Portland, 100k in St. Louis. This shows how well he is liked and how much he is supported. McCain hasn't drawn a crowd like that sense the RNC. In face, just today he had to bus in 4,000 students to even have a crowd of around 6,000. Yes, he bused in students who should be learning in school instead of standing behind him as he attempts to save his dying campaign.

Another thing that shows the character of the people who are supporting McCain is the attacks on Democratic supporters. We all heard about the stupid Ashley Todd chick who lied about being attacked, but an actual campaign worker for Obama was attacked by someone supporting McCain and the guy admitted it.

There have been many cases of Republican supporters shouting racial slurs and violent threats towards Democratic supporters. Two Cuban-Americans who were supporting Obama were surrounded by McCain supporters and threated with violence and had to be protected by the police. There was a flier going around a neighbor, I don't remember what state exactly, that was telling the Republicans to vote on Nov. 4th and the Dems to vote Nov. 5th. Early voters have been called cheaters and in fact a group had their tires slashed while they were inside a building for a Democrat rally.

I have yet to see Democrats attacking Republicans.

Why do so many high ranking Republicans support Obama? Why do so many military people support Obama even though he wasn't in the military and McCain was in for 20 something years?

You have the right to freedom of speech because of the soldiers in Iraq defending that freedom. He, and you, should respect that. I wish every American could see what I have been so lucky to have witnessed. I was able to be on the runway at Ft.Campbell, TN when the 101st Airborne returned from Iraq a few years ago. It was amazing. There were people waving flags, holding signs, children who barely remembered their fathers, infants who had never met their fathers. I tear up every time I think about it. It was the proudest moment in my life watching those soldiers come off of that plane and seeing the look in their eyes when they saw us there to greet them. That right there is what American is about - pride in your country. I wish everyone could feel that.

I am not going to argue because I can't argue with something you can't understand, and I don't want to fight. I feel very strongly about this. I love my country and I don't want to see her fall. I'm afraid. A democracy cannot last forever and I'm afraid we're close to the end. I'm afraid Obama is going to push us over the edge. We have too many people here that don't remember the meaning behind the stars and strips, behind "the land of the free and the home of the brave". I have a horrible feeling in the pit of my stomach, and it's not just because I dislike Obama. It's because he stands for everything I fear.

How does Obama not like this country? He is the epitome of the "american dream" and people that love this country should embrace him for that. Just because he wants to bring the troops home he is somehow patriotic?

I have friends over in Iraq and Afghanistan. I have friends that have been shot, maimed, and killed. I don't believe in the war we are fighting in Iraq. Afghanistan or where ever Bin Laden is hiding is where we should be fighting. We have lost to many Americans to the war in Iraq where we were sent on false pretenses.

So is McCain your answer then? Someone who wants us to be in Iraq for fifty to hundred years? Someone who will probably try and reinstate the draft because people don't want to join the military and fight a war they don't believe in?

You seem like you are insinuating that Obama will end democracy and I would like to know where you get this from.

I'm glad people have been mature and sensible in this debate so far.

I'm interested though in the saying 'democracy cannot last forever', when I would have considered it the most stable political system.

Anyway, thanks you for remaining civil on a topic that clearly stirrs passions.

I'm not a republican, conservative or a McCain supporter.

But, Acorn is as smarmy as they come. The best is a few years ago when they fired workers who wanted a higher wage. What was there job? To advocate a higher minimum wage.

ACORN and the various PIRGs are scams designed to raise money under the guise of progressive politics.

ACORN wasn't the problem this last time. They hired some people who needed money and start forging voter registrations. It had nothing to with ACORN, only with the people they hired.

Obama gave them some money so they could get some people registered, not just democrat, but get them registered to vote. There is nothing wrong with that. They just should have looked at the people more.
