Technarati---good or bad or what?

As a newbie I have joined technarati, got the button and everything---what I don't have is ---I have no idea what it does for me or how to make use of Technorati----my technorati number is slowly growing--which is a good thing right?---

That's a good question. I only use technorati to see who has linked stories from my sites onto theirs.

yes indeed the increasing number is a good sign, the technorati people call it authority, it's really just the number of linkback or trackback from other sites to yours.

with good authority, and if you use technorati tag properly, you might get some valuable traffic from technorati too.

unfortunately there's another technorati number called favorite, I am not really sure about this, I don't think it helps in the your technorati ranking. If possible, don't pay too much attention to technorati, it will not be a large source of traffic and its features are long outdated.

I don't think Technorati is really a factor anymore. It used to be good way back, but now every spam link shows up as a reaction. You could have a lot of authority/reactions just from spams.

I mainly use Technorati to check who has links back to my blog (and what they are saying about my posts..)

Beside checking who's linking to the posts and authority, I use 'Technorati' for checking posts using the tags, e.g. 9/11, people, life, etc and this is a good way to discover relevant posts/bloggers.
