Today I only have 47 visitors, but I usually have over 200. I know it's not right because adsense says I have 250 impressions. Does anyone else see a significant drop in traffic?

It seems analytics is off sometimes. If I watch my sight counters (uniques) and compare to adsense analytics is off a lot. Not sure if analytics might be on a wierd time schedule. Anyone with anymore insight would be great. I check the stats only about once a day, but if i knew when they would be accurate, i might check more...

Guys the diffrence is because of unique visitors count and page views count. Every visitor landing on your site from a unique IP is recorded as 1 visit. And in a single visit he/she may browse many pages on your site. That is page views. So you can have 10 unique visitors and 37 page views in a given day. Remember your ad impressions also increase as 1 visitor is opening more than 1 pages of your site.

Analytics also is run through Java so anyone visiting your site without java enabled in their browser will not be picked up. There also seems to be a time lag with analytics so I always look at the stats from the previous day knowing they are most likely to be accurate.

Definitely seems a bit off, when I click on the more detailed report for the month, it often shows more clicks or earnings than on the initial summary page, also I have found for some reason if you select your more detailed report to have a date period that finishes tomorrow rather than today you get an increased result. Then again sometimes it reports no earnings for a particular day, then checking a day later it shows that I did earn some cash |

But yes, analytics, and any other stats package for that matter, have some troubles measuring traffic from time to time. This is why you shouldnt rely on only one stats system. Last edited by Nahualli; July 10th, 2008 at 11:57 PM.. Reason: typo |
