From what I've read, the consensus is that an in-text ad performs best, followed by a skyscraper (120x600) in the left column.

I found that ad unit located in between blogs posts and the one at the top always get the most clicks. The one that perform the worst is usually the bottom ad units.

For me, an ad just below the post title and one just after the last line of the post perform extremely well.

I agree with Sock Yee: I have one "above the fold" right below the masthead and then one inbetween posts. I've heard the a square in the text works the best, but I don't like the way they look so I have not tried them.

My best performing ad is the 5 link adsense box right above my first post. The generated text seems to catch people's attention (or they mistaken it to be part of my site...)

It really depends on the type of blog you have. It's normal to see tons of ads in certain type of blogs: tech, celebrity/hollywood, make money blogging, etc. But if it's a personal blog, it would probably get annoying. Even in normal tech websites, the entire page is filled with them. but I think most people just ignore them.

I tend to leave sites that have ad boxes with their content wrapping around it since they are unimaginably annoying (example: https://www.google.com/adsense/stati...Rectangle.html)

I don't have ads up yet. I plan on having one underneath my header...
