What's really perfect is having a blog specifically to post spam so when you get all of the spammy comments and emails it is all within context and works out. ha!

I don't get a ton of comments on my blog, but I do enjoy the comments I do get.

How does one know if one's blog is anything, unless one receives comments on one's posts? If I read a blog post I like, I leave a comment, to tell the author my opinion of that post---sometimes they take the time to look up my blog and do the same for me----commenting is the name of the game as far as I'm concerned.

The problem is to get more comments you need to make easy registration, but easy registration sometimes means an open door for spammers... :-(

It's Akismet, not askimet

Akismet is a wordpress plugin, that identifies and blocks spam comments. Akismet is a learn and block system, as it maintains a central repository of spam ips, domains and ids of known spammers, and continuous updation is done by users across the world to further refine and update it.

ahh, thanks for the correction as well as the explanation of what it is. In that I currently do not use wordpress, I will file it away under, important stuff for another day.
