Default Ever Buy Domains then Let them Rot?

I do it all the time and I have to stop so I thought I'd rant about it.

Just recently I bought one for $150 and I haven't even put it online yet. Sigh.

Anyone else?

I haven't ever purchased one for that much! I went to a domain auction at the T.R.A.F.F.I.C show last month and I saw some domains sell for a lot of money. Ones that you wouldn't think would be worth money went for a few thousand bucks.

Do you re-sell your domains or hang on to them?

I'd like to resell or build them. I just buy them then forget. The one I paid $150 for isn't the best domain in the world but it's from 1997 and I always wanted an 1990's domain lol.

I always build on them. Why buy a domain and not use it?

@Corey - It's not on purpose. I'm just really more ambitious then practical sometimes I guess. I have a great idea but it never gets off the ground type deal.

No, I never do. I'm too tight to spend the registration fee and then not bother using them!

There are parking services that you can make money from. You may want to check them out if you don't plan on building a website anytime soon.

I have too many and yes there are about 5 with projects "in mind", but it's cheap enough to hold on to until I have time.

I've never done anything quite like that. I did buy a domain at one point and the concept for it never got on the ground.

Since it wasn't going to work I did the only sensible thing- threw blog software on it, grabbed a theme designed for SEO, shoved Adsense, PW and EC on it (EC to get some minimum traffic going), and then paid someone $10 to write a handful of posts on whatever they thought fit the domain. Set them to go up once a week for the next month, and it more or less paid for itself that way.

Skolor, Nice idea! I'll have to try that on a few of my domains! See if it works.

I buy domains all the time that I have some great idea for, and then they sit. I think I have more ideas than I have time!

I tend to buy cheap domains in lots, just made a bid over at DP for 34 domains. Don't know what I was thinking, but fortunately I have already been outbid!
