For many years, the trend was to keep figuring out better formats that could fit on bigger or wider screens as larger monitors became more popular. Now the trend is for smaller and it's creating problems as websites and software creators work out how to get things to be easily viewed on cell phones. So do you view the internet on your phone? Do you connect to social networking sites (more and more are twittering and Facebooking from their cell phones)? For many of you, this is likely beyond you as you're not of the generation that's heaviest into the latest technology, but how popular do you see this continuing to get? Is it merely a trend or is major internet usage on cell phones here for the long-haul?

Personally QuirkyJessi I have never visited a website on a phone. I just don't see the fun in doing this! first this technology was made for convenience and now ti's being used to surf the web. But just because I don't doesn't mean people aren't! Many many people are doing this now and the amount of people will continue to grow! I surf on my Nintendo wii |

I see it getting more and more popular. Depending on the type of site I'd think a mobile version would be good. I don't have it on my phone now however I probably will in the future. For now I"m still a slow jamming text messager on a standard cell. If I was going to be a heavy net user from a mobile device; not sure if I'd rather a larger screen at the cost of size or not.

I guess I'm a part of the "tech" generation, but a lot of this stuff I just don't see the need for in my life. I have never surfed the web from my phone and don't see having to do so any time soon. I prefer to just wait until I get home and can surf the net from my comfortable office chair... and maybe enjoy a coffee while I do it. Of course, I don't have a job or a business that requires me to constantly be connected, so that may be why I have the attitude I do! However, to keep from 'falling behind', I like to read up on the new gadgets companies keep coming up with.. Just because I don't use it, doesn't mean I can't be "in the know".

Mobile browsing will bypass internet browsing by 2012 so it's only few years time!!! The problem is still that webmasters do not recognise the problem that their poorly programmed websites will crash mobile device browser. However Google and MSN has been very helpful for me past years to ban those websites from their search listings which I have reported them crashing my PDA browser ![]() Mobile content publsihing is definetly way forward, that's why I introduced mobile blogging at wap.mobiblogi.com. All contributions are welcome as I will pay out the earned revenues from your post. |

I surf the web more on my blackberry than I do on my laptop. I use twitterberry to tweet from my phone, I use the Blackberry Facebook app to run my Facebook account, I use Google apps like crazy (maps, search, weather, news, etc), I stream music via Blackberry music streamer, and I check e-mail religiously. Yeah, I guess you could say I use my phone a bit. |

I keep my phone and net completely seperate. My phone is 5 years old and only does a blue & black screen, but even if it was capable, I still wouldn't use it for the internet. However, I do prefer a slightly narrower page, especially for blogs. Otherwise the posts look very dense, as though they're going nowhere fast.
