Default Spammers Overwhelm Google's Blogger

If you've spent any amount of time on Blogger, you'll run across spammy sites or get an eye full of unpleasant p*rn (and yes, I mean unpleasant....not any good stuff here). This seems to have brought it to a whole new level, though. Just a head's up so you know there's a greater risk of viruses right now.

Quote:
Spammers have perfected a method for automating pages on Google's Blogger service, a new report from security firm WebSense states.

According to WebSense security analyst Sumeet Prasad, spammers have somehow been able to bypass the field that asks users to prove that they are human.

While it's unclear how spammers have managed to defeat Google's CAPTCHA (Completely Automated Public Turing test to Tell Computers and Humans Apart), the threat means that a higher level of risk is associated with Blogger pages, which are traditionally seen as low-risk by antivirus programs. According to Prasad, spammers are now able to use Blogger as a kind of shield against other security software products.

The news means Google will have to redouble its efforts to police Blogger, which is one of the world's most popular blogging platforms and a key point of distribution for AdSense.

Thanks for letting us know; I wonder what kind of cool things the spammers would invent if they didn't spend all their time trying to beat the system

I have seen it a little and am not surprised frankly.

Is this part accurate? I don't think any anti-virus apps that I know of consider the network location of a document before scanning it.

I never knew that a blog could be a threat. Perhaps some malicious java script, or adware infection, but not a 'virus' outright.

Nothing is unhackable. Nothing.

Some of the blogspot urls you see are just plain ridiculous they may as well say i-am-a-spammer145698732.blogspot.com they must be churning them out like a mass produced product type thing.
