Like the title say, how do you do it without cheapening your site or begging?

By not cheapening your site. Sure, its possible to cajole people into clicking your links, but thats not the point. To do a good job with affiliate links, be honest, tell them a product is good only if its good, tell them how much it helped you. I personally don't feel comfortable putting up an affiliate link unless I have personally tried the product and liked it.

Well, it all depends. Most people click through that come from search engines, that's probably what you want to focus on. And depending how you have your affiliated links set up, you should have something suggesting WHY they should join/sign up for that particular product.
