I may be a blogger now, but by nature I'm a coder. I end up getting tired of fighting with applications fairly often and just write my own, especially on the forums I run. One thing I've been wanting to do for a while now is learn AJAX. Most of my web coding experience is in Flash or PHP, neither of which are terribly useful for regular applications, Flash is cumbersome and more well designed for single user applications, and PHP doesn't give a lot of interactivity to it. What I'd like to do is put together some sort of simple multi play game. It doesn't have to be anything amazing, just something interesting to play, and something I can really try my coding skills out on. The problem is, I can't think of anything. I've got some ideas for some flash games to put together next time I've got a bunch of free time, but nothing AJAX based, I need a multi-player game, since games are the easiest thing to make and get traffic to. It'd be great if any of you have some suggestions for what I should make to practice on.

I just discovered a game the other day that held my attention. Normally, I don't really play free online games! It consisted of a death row inmate that had 14 days until execution, and you had to "reform" him well enough in time to save him. You control what he does (buying food or other items from the shop, play a game, read a book, go to work, brush his teeth, etc...) I know this isn't an "idea" but maybe it will get a ball rolling on something similar? |
