I know a ton of you are members over there and there's talk about it everywhere. I've stopped by a few times and just never seem to find a reason to sign up and actually participate. I'm a member of several other forums, so I'd rather not just join for the hell of it. I have a few other reasons for not bothering, but I thought I'd get some opinions from others here who are members. And if you're not a member, don't take this as an ad for it because it'll end up getting my thread deleted and I still won't get my answers, lol.

So what do you get out of the DP community?

It's currently one of the biggest places for webmasters to buy and sell services etc... Also I used it for the directory category. It's a great all purpose webmaster message board. Many out there might I add; I just found this one a while ago and stuck with it.

That's one of the reasons I'm hesitant...it's huge with tons of people, so things move quickly and there seems to be a select "community" with just a ton of fluffy people and posts all around. And there are lots of webmaster boards, which I'm already a member of a few, so I'm looking for a reason why this one would be a beneficial addition to my list of sites to join in on.

It's the Buy Sell Trade section and that's about it. There really is a crew and tones of people just trying to pad posts for backlinks lol. It has been great to me but same time maybe if I had joined sitepoint I would be saying it about that... Know what I mean? Definitely one of the biggest though that I'm aware of. Heck the top poster has ~24,000!

It is a big, daunting community. I joined to ask questions thatI couldn't get answered here in the early days, and I browse through from time to time when I feel like submitting to directories or looking for link swaps with a similar theme.

Digitalpoint is my starting place for selling any of my sites or projects. I can usually get close to a full price sale in a couple of days there, but I've found the actual content is getting a bit watered down with ads and promotions

For me it is a place to buy services, links, websites and get some ideas, due to the huge amount of members in DP you can find fresh stuff every minute which makes it really the first choice for any webmaster.

I must say though if I have a technical problem that I can't find by using Google I search and or ask it there. Ironically often times when I do have a problem google brings me to a thread on DP anyways.
