Smoking falls into the chemical dependency...

Addiction = Uncontrollable craving, seeking and use of substance

Not sure if you can get warm & fuzzies from smoking... that would be the passion side...

Without a doubt it is an addiction.

Being that several of my endeavors are internet based, imagine how badly I am addicted!

That coupled along with my ways of always wanting to learn and read more and more... oh man... I am doomed!

Some would say 'goto the library', but why would I waste *gas* when I have the web and the comfort of my home, as well as 1000x more info than any single library in my area could afford

Yes, I am an addict!

And that is exactly how it all started for me too.

I am addicted and proud of it.

I mean, there are worse addictions. I could be doing heroin or drinking cheap liquor, instead right?

It's not listed as a disorder in the DSM IV, but that's not to say it's not a problem.

According to my wife, psychologist in the making, Internet Addiction is NOT a diagnosed mental disorder, yet. There are those who would like to see it in the DSM V.

I think the internet is still too new to know exactly what the result of spending too much time on the internet will affect people. I think this is like any other disorder you could have, ask yourself if your use of the internet is having a negative impact on any area of your life and the people around you.
