Why do people insist on sitting right next to you in a movie theatre when there are still plenty of open seats? This happened to me today; I thought they had to be joking. The least I could do I figured was to claim the arm rest so what happens the lady who sat next to me switches and her husband comes and puts his arm directly on mine. I thought he'll have to move this is too awkward but to my amazement no. After 30 seconds or so I couldnt' take it anymore. What I don't understand is if the movie theater is only 3/4 full why must someone sit right next to you? I've never done that; I would but only as a last resort with no where else to sit. For the record my seat wasen't any prize to begin with, 3 seats from the isle about 5-7 rows back! Anyone else ever have this happen or... are you a close sitter?

Many people have a specific spot they want to sit based on their prefernces. This is why I always try to arrive early to get the best spot. I also like having room so if someone was right next to where I wanted to sit I would move a row forward or back. Maybe they don't care about space.

I don't mind so much the whole "sitting too close" thing, it's when they refuse to be quiet that drives me insane! Like I'm supposed to tell what's going on when I can't hear a thing. -Jamie

lol shameless plug? I have had both of those situations happen to me, and have left movies when it was really bad. About 10 minutes into Emily Rose I could not handle it, and asked for my money back. They rocked, and gave it back. Weekend evenings are the WORST for that. sorry, can't think of a blog to show as example tho ;-) |

I wonder why people have to use the stall right next to yours in public restrooms when there's others available. They're probably the same people that sit next to you in the theater. |

This thread looks like it's from a Seinfield episode ! I hate close-sitters. They make me nervous. I mean, I understand if the theatre is full, but when it's half-empty ??? Fortunately, I'm a girl, so I always carry a large handbag (women will know what I mean). I put it by my side so people think the sit is taken. |
