What do you do when you get negative comments?

Hey, I'm just curious how people react when you get negative responses as comments on your posts. Like people telling you that the post was awful or pointless? Do you do anything about it? Does it piss you off?

I don't have comments enabled on my blog yet. However if someone is being that negative, then they may be a troll. If it's constructive criticism I would think it would be OK. If a person tells you that your post is awful or pointless, then why would they read your blog at all? What kind of a person takes the time to make a negative statement like that?

Though, sometimes you may just make a bad post. Some of my favorite bloggers have made a few really terrible posts, so it can happen to anyone.

What I will probably do (if I enable comments) for my blog is to remove anything overtly negative. Since you are running the blog you can set the standard.

Nah, hell nah... what I usually do is put some updates on it something like "Update: Problem resolved because blah blah blah..."

But I think you REALLY over analyzed and it hurt him...

If it's constructive critisism, that's great. Even if it's a troll (a non-vulgar one) I'll let it lie... it provides my readers with a laugh.

I don't mind critisism, but it's gotta be factually based, or proven... if not, you get events like my last blog post

I too agree on constructive critism, I just find the human response quite fascinating.. we are all entitled to opinions, and I can see "hot" topics, politics, economy and a bunch of various other one's that would draw negative debates and comments.

I am baffled at the one's that are just pointless, some folks just have way to much misery on their hands, and way to much time! Or they are lacking the happy cafe mocha!

Negative comments are fine as long as it's not personal. On one of my post about gun control one guy started calling me names while another person who disagreed with me was very polite and eloquent.
