Default What are the common sizes for a button/badge?

I need your help folks!

I am creating buttons and banners for a fund-raising activity (which I will reveal as soon as I can) but I have not the slightest idea what are the "common sizes" that I should make. I hope to provide buttons and badges of a few sizes so that most bloggers would put them up on their blogs. I also hope that some bloggers will display one on their sidebar too.

Please suggest some sizes so that I don't spend time making buttons that are too HUGE or too small.

Thanks in advance, guys!

I'm not sure, but I think an avatar-sized button would be anywhere from 80 to 120 pixles in both dimensions. A button like the bloggeries directory button would probably only be 100X10 or 100X12 pixels.

^ Yep, I'm gonna agree...around the 125 area, occasionally smaller (and it obviously doesn't have to be a perfect square). I'd also suggest sticking with making some various sizes. Often times, if I'm going to put something in my sidebar, I'll write a post about it....and I'll use the larger "picture-sized" one in the blog post, and the smaller version in my side bar.

Default Common Web Banner Sizes

Here is a list of common web banner sizes I got from one of my affiliate sites.
I put a * and a ** next to the ones I think are the most widely used.

468x60 Full Banner **
234x60 Half Banner
125x125 Sq Button **
120x90 Button 1
120x60 Button 2
88x31 Micro Bar
120x240 Vert Banner **
160x600 Wd Skyscraper
120x600 Skyscraper *
180x150 Rectangle
36x280 Large Rect
300x250 Med Rect
250x250 Sq Pop-up *
728x90 Leader-board

I hope this helps you decide what sizes you should start with when making web banners.

Thanks guys! I have made two sizes so far, 160x240 and 300x300. I will not be making long banners because I will be using a photograph, and it won't be too nice. But I will experiment with other rectangular ones.

Thanks again, you guys are wonderful

I bet a lot of people appreciate you posting that. Those are standard sizes that most webmasters are using. Other sizes, those out of the norm, are usually more difficult to find places for.

Thanks,

Jim
