blogger and blogspot frustrate me

I don't use them, and I don't use a google ID, so when I find a blog that I want to comment on half the time it wont let me comment with my email or URL, which is a waste of time for networking. I also can't find a way to email the owner of the blog, which is a bummer because they're in the year below me ( recognised the photos and exam stress) and it would be a good link exchange.

I don't like it too.Now I don't read blogspot blogs anymore no matter how good is that article.I don't care if it's hosted by Google or if Google uses 3 domains for it (blogspot.com blogger.com and blogblog.com),I won't read anymore blogspot blogs and I think making a blog on that platform is a waste of time

Well i totally disagree with you people here :lurk-2: .Blogspot gives you the facility of posting comments anonymously,but many of the bloggers don't use it,so there is nothing wrong with blogger itself.I use Shoutmix on my AdSense blog where people can leave comments or chat with me online.

Blogspot is very friendly but because novices and beginners use it,they don't use the open comments maybe because they are afraid of -ve comments .Anyhow i now know how to use blogger and make it visitor friendly

I hear you, while callmeminty is right, there is nothing "wrong" with them, the changes do make it a useless networking tool on most blogs. (the ones you can only leave a anonymous comment or just a nick name.)

I have gotten to the point of not commenting on them, as your right, it is a waste of time if you can't add in your URL or information.

I rarely surf for 'pleasure' I am always looking for link bait, resources, interesting articles, networking, etc.

I think you don't have to limit your self from reading other blogs/site just because of those 3 domains.. IMO, you're reading a blog not because of its domain but because of the articles that are posted on those sites..

I'm pretty sure there are other types of logins available instead of just google ID? I thought I heard something about that.

Some do let you post with a nickname, email and URL. Not all do though

I like to think of myself as a very experienced blogger. I mean, I have been doing it for 3 weeks now, so surely that makes me an authoritive voice on the subject...or not. But I quite like blogger. It is easy to use and I dont want to spend an extra hour messing about trying to get a post working. So as a WYSIWYG type editor, it works for what I want it to do, and I have the anonymous commenting available, although from memory I think you have to turn that on so for the uninitiated in the world of all things web based it could be a pain to get it turned on.

Wordpress is just as easy to use- it's what I started on and once the server has one click install installed you can do everything yourself. It's just ticking boxes to enable options.

Agreed; once you have wordpress install it's no harder to use than any other software. Most of the mainstream blogging software is incredibly straight forward and easy to use. It's designed for everyone so it's quite easy to navigate if you have some experience with similar programs.
