Sometimes mistakes lead to new ideas! This was brought home to me again last night while making a new necklace. Read more about it on my recent bloggerie. The experience led me to meditate on failures and what we do with them. I used to get very discouraged when making mistakes. I would complain to my mother that I was not as good as she was at making things. One day, my mother got fed up with me for being so negative and told me that all artists make a lot of mistakes. She told me that they are learning experiences. Then she took me into her workroom and showed me her "box of failures". She says she keeps them because they are reminders and many of them gave her ideas that she went on to use to great success. I now have my own "box of failures". Thanks, Mom. |

I've never met someone successful who hasn't failed. Failure to fail means failure to try and it's hard to be successful without trying. Great points!

Amen, KnotGypsy. If you ask me, there's a reason why "success" comes well after "failure" in the dictionary. |

Well, I suppose if you're prepared to learn from them, you're ok. It's the defeatist 'This is too difficult, I can't do this' attitude that is the ultimate failure. |

To summarize your words of wisdom: "Failure to fail is failure to try" by Bloggeries "Success comes after failure" by Inhibitor "Defeatism as an attitude is the ultimate failure" by Modified Cars All so very true, guys, and well said. |
