Anyone done transcription as a job?

When I was in the military I was a transcriber. Ever since getting out five years ago, I have bounced around. I taught for a year, managed a Gamestop for four years, and now I have been doing roofing sales for the past two months. I love the free time I am afforded with roofing sales, because it gives me more time to write, but with winter coming up things will be slowing down. So, has anyone here worked as an at-home transcriber? I am applying to Tigerfish, as I understand it is the best for beginners. With my experience in the military I would not call myself a beginner, but I have been out of the game for a few years, so it could help me re-hone my skills. I'm just trying to get other's opinions.
