Default Blogging - symbolism of the new generation?

I think blogging, and other social interaction sites like facebook, twitter and youtube, is a huge step for us as consumers and individuals, don't you think?

I find it fasicinating that nowadays - to some extent of course - we can post what we want, what we think and actually have our own impact upon issues going on in society. It's a big step in our rights as human beings and allows us to step beyond being a passive audience - we can go out of the limits and avoid being just plain, automatic consumers.

Since I want to do a career in writing, most likely journalism, the fact that I even have the chance to write what I want to is great in itself; I get to learn, practice and see what it's like for other people to read my work and all for free.

It's such a great step for us all.

It would be interesting to see what you all think!

I love that the internet has provided a way for writers of all levels to get their work out there. Maybe you can't land a job in a major newspaper...but you can start a blog...and if you appeal to a large enough crowd, who knows where you will go from there.

yes, that's correct. Blogging is also a good way of socialization, and sharing your knowledge and ideas to other people.

Funnily enough, some years ago, I was thinking that blogs are a really bad way to start showing your art to the main public. Now, I'm glad I changed my opinion - because no matter how good your writing is, no one will hire a completely unknown writer or publish their work. Blogs give us the opportunity to show off, to learn how to communicate with people all over the world and to find soul mates with similar interests (:
Recently I heard something like this and liked it a lot: "In our days Shakespeare and Goethe would be blogger."

If you thought that was funny, mine is sillier. I used to think that blogging are for famous people only and that nobody would want to read a blog that's written by someone who is unknown. I was like, "Who would want to read my blog?". Thinking back, I wished I had blogged earlier. Like you, I'm glad I've changed my opinion now.
