Great thread! Personally I like to live by the rules of treating others the way I'd like to be treated. I also believe in the laws of attraction and persistence. I think persistence is the most important. If you don't have persistence you will never be able to accomplish anything great in this life because everything great takes time! Another secret to personal success is thinking for yourself. If you just listen to other peoples opionions your life will be like a boat with no rutter going back and forth until it finally finds its way onto the rocks. Opinions are one of the most abundant and cheapest commodities on earth. Everyone has an abundance of opinions; make YOUR OWN DECISIONS and follow what you feel is right. On that note be careful who you share your new ideas with as many people who can't understand or picture themselves doing it will talk them down out of fear or ignorance. Make up your own mind and make your own destiny. If you want something different in life you can't take the path of least resistance ; get off the highway and blaze your own trail. Oh and there is no substitute for enthusiasm and attitude is everything! ![]() "If you think you can or can't .... You're right!" - Henry Ford. |

I was on a plane today and for the first time in my life I got to ride first class. I was on a small CRJ. Lesson learned if ever you are on a small plane and you go with the plan where you can choose your seat choose a front seat. What happened was the flight got changed to a bigger plane but those with a ticket got to keep their seats. Point of the story I met a lady on the flight and we talked about the secret and the laws of attraction. Why did I end up next to her? Why did we both confirm our previous thoughts and expand our knowledge on the topic of you create your physical world by the thoughts you allow your mind to entertain in your own conscious. It was quite the experience. Have you ever read the book "Think and Grow Rich" by Napoleon Hill? If not I highly recommend it. This lady only read both; I haven't but I do plan on reading it. Chances are she will eventually join as we swapped business cards and contact info. I just have to make sure that I actually practice and do what they say it's very easy to read a book feel like you got the jist but not really get anything out of it. Results come to those who practice I believe. What are your thoughts on the laws of attraction? Personally I've been looking for a web property to take over for a while; I came across a webmaster board and for some reason I happened to login to the site the day this website was for sale. I called the person who started this website we chatted for a few hours and after an auction I finally got the site. It ended up costing me considerably more then I had initially intended but now looking back I would of spend even more for this site. Why was I on that website when the auction started; I dont visit the site much anymore and didn't really visit it before the auction... There are BILLIONS of websites in the world but I happened to visit the one that gave me this website on that one particular night this site was forsale... Is it all coincidence or do we make our own luck? I"m leaning towards the latter! Rob |

Hi Rob; That is a very interesting story. You open up so many interesting points that it is difficult to know where to begin. I do most definitely believe in the laws of attraction. I say laws because how are we to know? One or one thousand laws of attraction? The key is that you are being drawn to the experiences because you are open to the experiences. Communicating with a kindred spirit on a plane to the chance encounter that leads us to an unexpected opportunity that we did not know existed are all connected. In this case they are connected by you and your experience. The main law of attraction is, I think, what we surround ourselves with daily, compels our journey. I was once told by a woman that her dream was to go on an African Safari but she could not afford to go. So she just dismissed the idea as fruitless. If she had taken a different turn by surrounding herself with interesting pictures of safaris, read up on safaris, gone to chat boards on safari's and created some momentum, I know that one day she would go on a safari. I think our happiness depends upon attracting our dreams. I have read Think and Grow Rich. It is a classic. The beauty is that how could it be any other way? We create our destiny no doubt in my mind. There was a good old quote which I have forgotten the exact words to but it goes something like, the journey never looks like the destination. That is our challenge. best, JD |

This has been a very difficult thing for me to resolve. Years ago, I did read "Think and Grow Rich" among many other books and articles on the topic. I attended seminars. They were enlightening, however, I ran into difficulties in manifesting the reality I desired. I learned much about myself, though. I tried everything I understood the system to be telling me. It did not work for me. I experienced such disillusionment that I came to this bottom line: Either the system was a lie, or I was an idiot. An idiot because I could not see where I had gone wrong. Now, I do not know what to believe. Perhaps I was not patient enough. Perhaps I expected some magical change. Here I am, however, pursuing my heart's desire, anyway. I want to make a living doing what I love, making beaded jewelry. I pursue this dream because to do otherwise leaves little meaning in my occupational life. What I do must have meaning for me, or it is not worth doing. So I come to the lesson I have learned. This is your life. You are entitled to live it the way you see fit. If you have a dream, go for it. The pursuit provides the meaning. Even in failure, you will know you tried. Maybe you will learn from this failure and go on to succeed after all. If you never try, you will never succeed. The best bet is to go for it. The main philosophy I have lived by is this: When you are old, sitting in your rocking chair on the porch, "What do you want to remember?" |

Everyone that I know who is successful has a long string of failures. Failing is part of succeeding. You will miss 100% of the shots you don't take in life so those who never try never succeed. Sometimes they try once and then don't succeeded and give up. I"ve failed so many times I can't even remember and had some great successes in life. Everything has a weird way of working out. You can't change your thoughts and change your external life immediately because you are where you are today is from the culmination of all the events in your life so far; therefor lots of things which you held dear to your heart YEARS ago are beginning to blossom now. All things take time I"ve found. Time is one resource that can't be bought or sold either. "Time and Tide wait for no man or woman". Scott is right though; there are no substitutes in life for persistence and enthusiasm. Edision failed somewhere in the thousands before he finally came up with the lightbulb. Something that is cool is on page 15 of google it has us under the term "Law of Attraction Forum". Someone actually visited us through this thread; just thought I'd share.

Hi Knotgypsy; I know the feeling where change seems to play the 'dance' with us. I think the greatest mistake we can make is to focus on what our definition of change should be. I think Freud said 'all change equals upset'. The key to getting through all this is to focus on the goal and not the path. Just like you commiting to your work. Once you have commited to what you want to accomplish, the path will follow. Most look for the path first. best, JD |
