Or, do the blogging version, NaBloPoMo, where you post every day for the entire month. Some already do this, but for others, it's a real challenge. It's changed a lot since it's first year, but can still be fun. NaBloPoMo - National Blog Posting Month

These are interesting, but so many things to do, so little time....

For a month heck, I've been doing it for almost 2 years. Haven't missed a single day yet, don't plan on starting any time soon.

The only problem with the annual nanowrimo is that they promote quantity of work over quality of work. You just have to write X number of words a day, no matter how awful those words actually are. I'd be a lot happier with it if the goal was to produce a publishable work in 30 days, regardless of length, than just mindlessly pounding out a certain number of words on the keyboard.

I've thought bout doing it but it kinds of scares me. I don't think I would be able to write anything good if I was posting every day. and I would have to forget about doing cartoons with every post.

For those who don't have a schedule, this can be particularly challenging for them. If you're already posting daily and it's a breeze, maybe try posting for the theme chosen or choose one of your own. It can be interesting to push out 31 straight posts on the same topic or related theme (even if you're posting within a niche, narrowing it down even more can be challenging).

Most people can't push out a publishable work in 30 days, though. The idea behind focusing on quantity over quality is that it buckles you down into working hard and really pushing out content. Then you have something to work with and can edit afterward. Some people only write here or there, with no real time schedule or urgency, so it can be really challenging....and rewarding.

Obviously most people are not going to be publishing it, but I feel certain most people can produce a somewhat polished short story in 30 days. I doubt you'll find anyone but Stephen King cranking out a 500 page book in that time.
