Hi everyone - this is a bit of a long shot..... I am writing a blog about my home county of Kent in England - it's called Kent Today & Yesterday. I know that apart from Kent in England there are quite a few other towns and counties around the world (in particular in the USA) called Kent. I would like to write a post (or maybe a series of posts) about the other places in the world called Kent. I think my readers in the UK would be interested to see what the other places called Kent are like and what goes on there. Now this is where you may be able to help. Do any of you good people live in or know anything about any of the other places in the world called Kent? I am thinking stuff like how long the town/county has been around, how many people live there, what sort of industries there are, good places to visit, maybe some photos? I know I can look stuff like this up on Wikipedia but it would be good to hear first hand from someone who lives there what the place is actually like. I can of course link the post back to you and give you credit for any help provided. Many thanks for reading and enjoy the rest of your weekend. Glen |

I have no idea of any other place named Kent. Edit: LOL. If found a Kent in my home country, home state: Kent, Texas - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia This is the ultimate desert town. If you have ever seen a picture of West Texas, especially near El Paso where Kent, Texas is located then you would see that there is nothing out there but cacti, desert scrub, and heat waves. Quote from the article: "As of 2005, its composition was a population estimated at 60 residents and three small businesses - a general store, a service station and a post office, as well as ruins of a public school and other businesses which flourished until the 1960s." Let me point out that I have never been to Kent, Texas but it sounds interesting. If you manage to find more info on it it may make a humorous inclusion in your article. Another edit: Here is more info: http://www.texasescapes.com/WestTexa.../KentTexas.htm

One of the more interesting ones could be Kent, Ohio, home of Kent State University, where war protests in 1970 led to the Kent State Massacre.

Hi everyone - thanks for your replies. Some interesting ones to follow up especially like the one in Texas and the Kent State massacre suggestion. Sorry it has taken a little while to get back to you but I've been away for a few days. Perhaps when I get the article(s) written up I'll post the links for you to have a look at. By then I should have accumulated enough posts to be able too! Glen |
