How long on average would you guess it takes you to make a new blog post? I'm talking the whole process from research to clicking on your blog and seeing it live. Also what part of the process for you is the most time consuming and which part do you dread most? ![]() I dread the clicking Publish button most. Often when I get there and have done it all you just want it out and push publish only to realize the odd mistake or two.... Oooops! Rob

it usually takes me at least 45 minutes to write a 'pillar' article, the first 15 are spent researching, and coming up with the basic point of the post. The next 15 are spent writing the post, and the last 15 are about coming up with a good title, and doing a quick image search to add a little image to the post-- the big time saver there is the snagit software- if you don't have it yet, you should (same as Jing, only not free, I couldnt get jing to work :-(

Interesting. Your work load is quit even and efficient at 15 minutes a section . Would you care to elaborate a bit on your experience with snagit and jing? Thanks, Rob Quote:

yeah, I set a timer for 45 minutes and if I am not done with the post by then I take a break for a minute and come back to it, sometimes working on it too long is not a good thing for the post As far as Jing and SnagIt, i am making a screen cast right now, give me about 10 minutes and I will post it here - I cant really explain it without showing- and it will make for a great post! LOL

Nice work and that is the first screen cast I've seen so definitely don't feel like an idiot. So basically its the process you take to make a blog post? Pretty cool I'm going to investigate that site later. Maybe I could make one on how to submit to the bloggeries blog directory ![]() Rob Quote:

thanks! Yes, that is what I do when I make a post, it takes less time, but I slowed it down for the screencast...

15-30 minutes for quick personal rambling post. A post can be in my draft for a few days if it requires research (site reference, wiki reference and what not) or any pictures (to make sure people read the long long entries). Well, sometimes it's just because I'm lazy. It's like I was typing the entry with all drift and enthusiasm, and then suddenly, I stopped and say, "Let's continue this tomorrow". Hah

lol, it's funny how the last 30-40 clicks of the mouse on a blog post or any online project can always be so mentally daunting that it delays the project and while procrastinating make thousands of mouse impressions. ![]() Quote:

I'm not sure if I have written any pillar articles, but in any way, I find myself very much a spontaneous writer/blogger. If I have been at it (a particular post) for more than 30 minutes, I'd save it in my drafts and only return to it whenever I feel like it because I know that if I continue working on it, it would sound very fake and "forced". But even with a spontaneous post, it would take around 30-45 minutes. I don't dread any of the parts, but I'm quite obsessed with checking and double and triple-checking my grammar and sentence structures, LOL. |
