Too bad there's only spell checker in Firefox. I wonder if there's any extension for Firefox that actually checks grammars in textbox...

I you are talking researching a topic then the time taken varies a lot. If i know where to looks, it can be below and hour or if i am researching a completely a new topic, it can be a few days. For the ones already in my head, its just a matter of couple of minitues to push the publish buttons

It depends on the topic matter. If I can't get an article done in 20-30 minutes, writers block has set in!

I like that 45-minute timer thing, its an interesting method of working. I might try that, because I love organizing myself and getting things done. I would say it takes me a while to up with a more "abstract" article. I can't give you a real time count because I don't brainstorm, outline and write in one sit down. For articles that are compilation of google searches and various resources, its rather quick.

I would say that most of mine take at least an hour including research, some several hours. Although there are a few shorter ones that would be more like 30 minutes.

After reading some of your posts Vandelay I am surprised they only take that long. Some of them are incredibly in-depth which would help explain your large readership!

Mine would measure in hours, usually. I post at night and am on the computer from about 8pm until 1am at the earliest. Probably half of that is working on a post. Sometimes they are quick and impassioned, other times I'm trying to communicate a complicated idea and I'm very careful about my word choice and composition. I slow myself down by researching while writing, but because it's a personal blog I often don't know what I'll be writing about until I put fingers to keyboard. I've tried planning articles in advance, but they lose the heat. On a different kind of blog, I would be fine with it. I am, however going to get myself an egg timer to make myself step away for 10 minutes every hour. Just for health reasons! |

I often spread a post over two days now, but I don't spend more than 45 minutes on it. Any research I've already done for my course or it's something hands on that I did that day, like diagnosing something in a pet. Finding a picture sometimes holds me back.
