How important is blog revenue?

A simple poll, I want to get a feel for how important making revenue off your blog is.

1. Extremely Important -> I won't blog if i'm not making a good income off it.
2. Very Important -> I need at least a small income from my blog to feel like the work pays off.
3. Important -> Making income off my blog is important to me, but I would still blog without it.
4.Not very important -> For me, income is a benefit of blogging. It would be nice to have, but it's not very important to me.
5.Don't care -> My primary reasons for blogging don't have anything to do with making money.
6.Other -> please post in thread

Blogging in my case is only a small part of a larger marketing campaign. Its very difficult to track the revenue directly from the blog. I think overall that the blog is useful for building a community which impacts revenue but not directly.

Well, very important. I am also a student and blog earnings will help me "extend" pocket-money!

If you are doing this to make money and hate blogging then ya it's important.

If you do this for fun, have other income streams then no not at all...

I blog for fun - and for motivation to help keep me on track with my weight loss. If I make any money on the side (a whole $7 so far!), then great, otherwise, I don't care. I just enjoy writing and talking to people.

If I was paying for my own hosting then I'd want to be earning at least enough to cover that. I'd want my blogs to be able to cover their own costs.

I just started my blog but it's not my main source of income but I hope it at least gives a me a little extra to spend .

I would say #4, not very important. Certainly not making any money off it now, but I won't turn it down if I happen to in the future.

I think the answer is very simple, some people blog for fun and others blog for money

Each has his one requiremnt, the fun guy only writes for the enjoyment of himself and his community.

The profit guy has little or no interest in his blog, he just wants to commercialze it as much as possilble to make money
