Yippee! Nearly 10,000 hits

I only added statcounter to my blog in September 2008 (used google webmaster tools previously), but the visitor count is nearly at 10,000. In fact it's gone up loads in the last 24 hours after some good attention from a couple of the forums/newsgroups. Today (and it's before 3pm here) is already my single biggest day. I've blocked myself as counting as a visit, and I appreciate that the number goes up with each page view, but the uniques are right up there as well!

don't sweat it loantime, there was days when I longed for 12 visitors a day. Actually, I didn't really care as I was enjoying writing to the blog. Mine crept up to 50-100 a day and then only recently has gone bananas!

If you do it first because you enjoy it, and then have some good content, eventually the people will come (hark at me - blog expert all of a sudden!)

Very good! I get nearly a thousand a week these days, and I'd say that time and content are the number one contributing factors to high visit count.

Just to be technical, you probably have 10,000 visits not hits.

A hit is any download via HTTP. Each page has multiple "hits" and they really aren't used as a metric anymore. If you have a page with 10 images, one page view to that page will result in 11 "hits": the page and the 10 images.
