Exclamation Need help testing post collapse and expand

Hi all.

To shorten long blog posts by only showing the first couple of paragraphs as a teaser, I have implemented two Javascripts to expand and collapse blog posts on Blogger.

One is a "BAM!" expand and collapse script.
The second is a more complex but a "sexy and smooth fading" expand/collapse feature.

Could you guys help me and look at this post, to see if both scripts work for you, and which one you like the most: The Road to the Horizon: expand-collapse test.

Please also tell me which one of the two 'expand' features you like. The smooth or the 'wham' one.

Leave a comment either on the post, or on the forum here.

This will help me before I put it into "production" on my blog. I am using the first and simple script in my sidecolumn since a few days, but would like to implement the second. I am afraid browser compatibilities etc.. might interfere...

(don't want to find out there are problems after two months and 30 posts.. )

Thanks in advance for your help!

Peter

Both work very neatly for me. I'm on internet explorer.

Expandable posts are such a useful feature in wordpress- I use them all the time. Hopefully someone will tell you they work in firefox.

I like the first method best. It's quick and simple.

Peter, great job on the coding! I too found this post searching for that exact functionality for my site. (that and how to add comment section.) I don't use a blogging site as that's not my main goal. My site is built on html.
Using Firefox 3..
test 1 works great. It's very fast. Maybe too fast. If the user blinks he may not see it expand. I think it would be best for slow connections though.
test 2 also works great. The quick fade in "advertises" the function being carried out. I would love to use it on my own site.

The second, smooth expand is definitely cooler. It is much more Web2.0. I definitely like it.

Thank you all..

Meanwhile, I have implemented the fast expand/collapse for the blogposts on the home page, and the sexier (web2.0-like) expand/collapse in the side column.

@scottaco: The fast expand is only little and simple coding (I made it a bit fancier now on my home page posts, with a grey background on hover-over), the slower expand/shrink has to open up 2 .js libraries. so that slows things down just a bit.
As you are interested, fyi: the 2nd one is using a Jquery function described here. It is freeware and not that difficult to implement...

Peter.
