Below is a list of the oldest, longest registered domain names. Wow, imagine if we knew then what we know now?

Pretty crazy. I'd love to of been involved in that game but I was only a young kid at the time. If only! It's interesting to see that the LLL.com's were some of the first to go then big names like dupont, ibm, hp, xerox etc... Those domain names on the list really are old; we're talking 1985.

Wow, that's pretty cool. Some of them are less than interesting domain names, but you can definitely see some of the businesses shining through that snatched theirs up immediately.

1985 domain names how can that be?? I remember (most of) 1985, but I don't remember any Internet way back then.

Wow, nice list. According to the list, those 100 were regsitered in just over 2 years. Think about how many are registered/day now...

It was a very rudimentary internet at that time. Think bbs run out of someone's home. I don't even know if usenet had started.

But hey, all I had was my Commodore 64 (gawd I miss that little puppy...it was so elegant for its time), and couldn't afford the modem to go online. Wow, were they expensive! (Edit: and slow. Very very slow)

So, am I like dating myself here?

I was on a commodore 64 in ~1987. I was born in 1980 so I don't feel so bad about missing that one.

Either way looking back that was one heck of an opportunity. Wish I owned more

"If only" for sure! I'm surprised no one thought of "Beer.com" or "CPU.com"
Circa 84' Apple had just introduced the first ever4 'Mac', the PC's were stumbling along on the pre-80xxx Processors and FidoNet was bigger than the Internet! ;-)

Now the key here is that in 20 years people are going to be saying the same about SOMETHING today. What IS that something?!?! Hindsight's a bit*h!
