I just posted about why I think, and know, that text links convert better than good ol' banner ads. What do you think? Any experience with replacing banner ads or text links? Text Links vs Banner Ads for Offer Promotion | AffiliateObsession.com |

Interesting!! Note to all other users: The occasional post of one of your bloggeries that is a topic of conversation in itself and of benefit to the forum is totally permitted. Posting all of yours is not permitted... Cool topic! I mean I have never even really put much thought into this. I always use banner ads and most of them don't convert so well. I commented something similar on your blog but I'm going to play with some more text links. I am basically banner blind; not blind but I don't click on them. A clever text link is definitely something I will look into. Have you tested this any further and on different sites / material? Also where did you put the text links? In the sidebar or in the bloggeries themselves?

Thanks for adding the note Rob....I didn't think I was in violation ![]() I put the text links right into the bloggeries themeselves. I haven't had much luck with them in the sidebar, but if you put them in to the content, you can convert much better. Most people are banner blind, or they are like us and know we are giving money to others , so they won't click them. There are also plugins people can use to keep ads from even showing in the browser they are using, so text links are the new banner ads ![]() Give it a go, I know you will see results and anyone reading this alread has ideas going through there head. Comment on my post if you have seen good results. |

Most important part: of what you wrote IMO is that many people DO have banner ad blockers I've totally forgotten about that. That being said I'm also using an older version of FF but your avg blogger / surfer loves newest gadgets / extensions etc etc... So I'd assume many of them have them blocked. Very cool food for thought; thanks for posting John!

Those same plugins often block the text link ad spots too, unless they are setup discretely. I don't know. I think it depends a lot on the placement and site itself.

| You might be thinking of Google Adsense blocks, but what I am saying is that you use your own anchor text and link it to the affiliate link within the content. I don't think that addons can block that, but I may be wrong.

I completely forgot about the ad blockers blocking banners. Don't they blog text links as well?

If I make a link, like this, would it still be blocked? |

It also largely depends on the niche. I have two blogs, one is related to blogging tips and second one is a tech blog (H/W, S/W. tips n tricks, hacks....) Now here are the results: 1) Text links perform well on the first blog. 2) Banner ads perform well on the second one.
